YOUTH WORKER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Background

"Youth worker" (hereinafter The Program) is a long-term educational program for civil servants and leaders of youth NGOs aimed to ensure an appropriate understanding of priorities, trends and challenges of youth policy in Ukraine, EU and other regions.

The objectives of the Program are as follows:

  • to provide a systematic approach to youth policy development and implementation in Ukraine;
  • to share world best practices of youth policy elaboration and implementation;
  • to establish a constructive dialogue between civil servants and civil society.
  • Target groups of the Program are civil servants working with youth at local and regional levels and leaders of youth NGOs

    The Program is implemented in the partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, State Institute for Family and Youth Policies and United Nations Development Programme.

    The Program is included in the Action plan for Implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and the Concept of Youth Development Strategy 2016-2020.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Main objectives of the assignment

    The objective of this assignment is to provide support to the Youth worker Educational Program implementation by ensuring effective and efficient coordination and facilitation of the planned Program activities.

    Description of responsibilities / scope of work

  • Serve as a focal point for the entirety of the Program activities.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the Program activities to ensure the results planned in the work plan.
  • Maintain good working relations with the Program stakeholders keeping them informed in a timely and accurate manner. Serve as a liaison between the UNDP project and other partners with regards to joint efforts for ensuring effective Program implementation.
  • Provide technical assistance in facilitation of grants distribution to NGOs to carry out Specialized trainings and ensure compliance of the grants implementation with the UNDP Rules and Regulations.
  • Provide technical assistance and logistical support in organizing the following trainings: Training for trainers - April; specialized trainings - June - September; basic trainings - October - November.
  • Facilitate organization of study visits and ensure good working relations with organizers in the host EU countries.
  • Develop the community of youth work practitioners by publishing at least 1 post in Ukrainian (article, useful links etc.) per week in the Youth worker Facebook group and responding to the practitioners' inquiries about the Program.
  • Ensure the Program visibility by posting at least one article (Ukrainian and English) per week on the UNDP Facebook page; highlight the main achievements at the UNDP website (Ukrainian and English). Draft press-releases for distribution in mass media at the Project Manager's request (Ukrainian and/or Russian).
  • Provide up to date information to the Project Manager about project implementation progress.
  • Organize, administer, and coordinate meetings, capacity building activities, missions within the Program.
  • Assist in preparing the interim and final reports on results of implementation of the Program.
  • Competencies

  • Good communication skills;
  • Good analytical and writing skills;
  • Proactiveness and ability to work independently as well as in a team.Excellent usage of computers and office software packages.

  • Required Skills and Experience

    Education:

  • Master's Degree in Management, Public Administration, Economics, Social Sciences or other relevant field. PhD will be an asset.
  • Experience:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in coordination of projects or project components, facilitation of trainings;
  • At least 2 years of practical experience in the field of youth and/or social work;
  • Experience in working for or with international organization will be considered as an asset.
  • Languages:

  • Fluency in Ukrainian, Russian and English.
  • Documents to be included when submitting the proposals
