Vacancy of Translator for UCIPR
UkrainianCenter for Independent Political Research (UCIPR) is looking for full time Translator for USAID Project “Ukraine Civil Society Enabling Environment Activity” aimed at improving the legislative and policy environment to be more conducive to civil society and reflect European standards.
Duration of contract: 4 years

Duty Station: Kyiv, Ukraine
Description of duties
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Partyand Deputy Chief of Party the incumbent will work in collaboration with project team
Assigned Duties
- Translate and self-revise from English and Ukrainian a variety of technical and difficult texts in the civil society, taxation, finances and related administrative and legal fields;
- Provide support for editing in English of different project documents;
- Serve as a Focal Point for Terminology;
- Provide simultaneous interpretation from English and Ukrainian during internal meetings of the Project;
- Perform other related duties in his/her area of competence as may be assigned by theChief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: A degree in modern languages, with specialization in translation.
Desirable: Studies in the social or biomedical sciences.
Verification of Educational qualifications
Skills
- Excellent translation skills, using English as the 'A' language;
- Diligence and ability to work with precision, under stress, and without supervision;
- Ability to use a computer for word processing.
Competencies
- Producing Results;
- Moving forward in a changing environment;
- Ensuring the effective use of resources.
Other Skills (e.g. IT): Ability to use a computer, software or database in translation.
Experience:
Essential: 3 years of progressive experience in translation and/or revision work at the international projects or in an intergovernmental organization.
Desirable: Editing, publications, terminology and management experience.
Languages: Excellent English as the active or 'A' language; Excellent Ukrainian as a native speaker.
